At 4-6 months, your baby will start to show an interest in food. This may be from him/her opening his mouth when offering food or showing interest in what you’re eating. The age of readiness differs from child to child but making sure they can sit up straight and have good neck control which is important.

At eight months or so, babies are becoming more adventurous. This is the time when more textured food is introduced. Babies look for tasty meals now and it’s a great time to experiment with different food and flavours. Portions are still small and it’s a good idea to offer both a meal and dessert

Independent eating. Babies around this age like to feed themselves which usually means half of it is on the floor. Chunkier meals and more protein is always good. Again offering a savoury meal and dessert (yoghurt & apple puree) is always good.
